TVL at Holyport

Moreton took a small team to Holyport unable to field a 30 handicap pair so started the day 1 rubber down.

The first match saw Renaud Besnard & Martin Rowlands for the hosts take on Moreton's Tony Branfield & John Tacchi with the visitors enjoying the benefits of a healthy handicap taking the rubber 2-6, 1-6.

David Aldwinckle & Bernie Spratt were the next Moreton pair on court facing Christopher Figg & Gary Oliver for the hosts. The Moreton pair were slow to start trailing 4-1 in the first set before finding their form and their opponents weaknesses. Holyport took the first set 6-5 but succumbed 2-6 in the second with Bernie Spratt targeting the hosts backhands. Moreton took the deciding set 4-6 to claim the rubber.

The final match was between Oliver Buckley & Chris Knight for Holyport and Keith Beechener & James Richardson for Moreton. This was another one-sided rubber despite good play from both sides with Moreton taking it 2-6, 2-6. This gave Moreton a 3-0 win on the day.
