Owen-George Championship

Tom Bomford has won the final of the Owen-George Club Championship sponsored by Blythe Liggins Solicitors. Blythe Liggins' partner, Kevin Mitchell, presented the cup to six times winner Bomford who had beaten the current champion Tom Lewis 6-3, 6-1 in a tough battle. Both players used railroad serves to good effect and athletic retrieving produced many long rallies. Bomford's return of serve, volleyed consistently to a good length, put Lewis under pressure and after fighting hard he gave way to Bomford's strength of shot and relentless accuracy.
